Xpango have now added the new Sony PSP Go to the selection of gaming consoles members can receive for Free!

The Sony PSP Go was announced back in June earlier this year and has now been released by Sony.

It's worth noting that the PSP Go isn't seen as a replacement for the PSP 3000, but simply a smaller, lighter and slimmer version, with a 3.8 Screen and slide down keypad.

Sony have removed the UMD format capability from this version to slim down the console, with games being available for download onto the systems 16GB internal storage. The PSP Go features Wi-Fi to enable internet browsing and game downloads and also includes Bluetooth connectivity.

So what's the verdict?

There is no doubt that the PSP Go is an impressive handheld console and boasts a much improved screen clarity and is certainly very portable in size, being 43% smaller than the PSP 3000.

However - it's worth noting though that having taken away the ability to play UMD Format games on the console, if you already own a PSP its unlikely that you would want a PSP Go as you won't be able to play any games you already own on it! This would explain why Sony state this is not a replacement console. The console is also quite expensive - £220 in the UK and $250 in the US, which is quite a bit more than the PSP 3000 and for a little more you can get a slimline PS3!

In summary, an impressive console, probably the best of its kind for screen display and size, with some great games available too, but perhaps best for members who don't already own a PSP.
